laser

Cold shower laser therapy is used in the treatment of a variety of equine ailments usually centred around the soft tissues of the body. Cold shower lasers are also used in human physiotherapy treatments. Research has shown laser therapy to be very helpful in clinical settings with soft tissue injuries. We use the Centurion cold-shower laser using either wide or fine point therapy. Laser therapy is performed on an in-clinic basis due to the frequency of treatment required. Typically horses are treated twice daily for 3-7 days, depending on the type of injury. Treatment is non-painful and non-invasive. OVLAC may recommend laser therapy in the following situations:

• Open wounds • Tendon injuries • Lymphangitis
• Chronic wounds • Inflamed, bruised tissue
• Myositis • Backs
• Focal healing • Post surgical healing
